Iran Says Distrust Toward U.S. Doomed Islamabad Talks

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf announced that recent negotiations between Iran and the United States in Islamabad have ended without results.

In a post on the social media platform X, Ghalibaf stated that Iran had demonstrated “good faith and the necessary will” even before the talks began, but a lack of trust toward the opposing side persisted due to what he described as “past experiences and two previous wars.”

He claimed that during the 21-hour negotiations, the Iranian delegation presented “168 proposals” aimed at advancing the talks. However, according to Ghalibaf, the U.S. side failed to gain Tehran’s trust, and the discussions ultimately did not lead to a conclusion.

The Iranian Parliament Speaker further emphasized that a strategy of “power-based diplomacy” remains in place alongside military capability, adding that Tehran will not retreat from consolidating its achievements.
